Dr. Aagard is known nationally and internationally for her expertise in operations, management, and leadership of hospitals, including acute care and long-term acute care, ambulatory care facilities, and medical clinics. Her expertise also includes knowledge and implementation of nursing care delivery models, nursing staffing, patient acuity measures, and case-mix indices. She has authored articles on a variety of acute and post-acute topics and speaks worldwide.

Ms. Aagard’s areas of expertise include the following:

• Strategic and business planning for acute care hospitals, long-term care hospitals, ambulatory care centers and medical clinics
• Operational assessments including review of policy and procedures, staffing, patient acuity, case-mix index and leadership effectiveness
• Leadership development and coaching
• Coding and billing audits for compliance and education to maximize reimbursement for long-term care hospitals

Dr. Aagard has worked with numerous clients in the development and implementation of strategic and business plans. She has conducted operational assessments that have led to the redevelopment of policy and procedures, changes in nursing responsibilities and staffing, which have ultimately increased the effectiveness of patient care delivery. Dr. Aagard has conducted billing audits and coding education for long-term care hospitals and medical clinics increasing the bottom line.

Dr. Aagard is an associate professor of nursing at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, her MBA in medical group management, and doctorate in educational leadership from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
